‘Gwai

October 25th, 2008 — 12:15 am

Oh man, they were so good. So very fucking good. I left it late and now I can’t be bothered to tell the whole story.

Very, very tired today but mother-fuckers, today’s news is; I met Dave Gibbons!

Oh yeah, he did a signing in OK Comics and I got me a copy of Watchmen signed with a sweet Rorschach caricature, I’ll upload a pic or something this weekend.

Very Tired. Night.

Sticky and Sleepy

October 15th, 2008 — 11:53 pm

Urgh, Its been another one of those days. Long, sticky, cold, busy, you name it: if it’s uncomfortable or irritating, it’s happened. Well, thats a pretty dramatic way of saying, ‘I had a lot of lectures today, and then a recording session this evening’.

Still, as I type this I’ve just crawled into bed, and MY GOD, does it feel like home. I’m so looking forward to a good night sleep, and then laying in tomorrow and finishing off the first installment of Brian K. Vaughn’s ‘Y: The Last Man’, one of those books praised by all, yet I’ve never got round to reading… Until tomorrow morning! So far I’ve read the first half of Volume 1, and all I can say is its genius.

NEWS OF THE DAY:

- Unfortunately I found out this morning that my good friend Rob Mac’s band have decided to call it quits. A shame because they were very good from what I heard, al though I was never fortunate enough to catch they’re live show. Sad news there man, hope life Solo treats you better.

- I hate Guitar Amplifiers.

- Robbie got a tattoo today. Its on his wrist, and its very cool. Very, very Robbie. It’s a striking series of Rotating Hexagons in Blue and Red ink. His shape, and his colors. Very simple, but its strong, subtle but powerful, and if you know Robbie, its fucking Cosmic. I’ll see if I can get him to take a picture and put it here because I really love the design.

- I was so busy at Uni today, I did get a chance to practice guitar. I’ll have to make a start on the Diary tomorrow… after my lay in…

Night.

Work’s Out

August 15th, 2008 — 05:10 pm

So there it is, today was my last day (technically) working on the building site.  From now on I am free to while away my days on the computer, behind a comic, or noodling on the Guitar.  Actually, the Guitar front is moving very slowly.  Though I’ve been keeping up the writing, the technique and theory has seriously fallen behind; like I haven’t done any since I failed my Audition in Janurary!  Really need to get back into some of that, because maybe, just maybe, it’ll be that stuff that pays my salary in years to come…

Listening to BBC 6 loads recently, despite generally despising DJs and Radio Playlists. Huh, there you go though.

Bring fourth Ice and Snow!

August 7th, 2008 — 06:05 pm

Went to Cambridge today with Kay for a little day-off/out. Was lovely. Walked about, got some grub, got some of Ennis’ new comics. But mother-fucker is it hot! I’m sweating like a bitch, and you all wanted to know that!

Thufforing Thuckotath: It’s the Dark Knight!

July 31st, 2008 — 07:02 pm

Last night, Laura and I went to see the new Batman film. It was good. Heath Ledger’s role as Joker has had a lot of hype and to be honest I think he lived up to it. Aaron Eckhart and Gary Oldman were pretty good too, in fact all of the supporting roles were cast quite well.

So why, oh why, would they recast Christian Bale as The Dark Knight?! Now I don’t think bale is a bad actor, he was brilliant in the Machinist as well as other films I’ve seen him in but as Batman, he didn’t even look like he was trying! Case in point - Batman’s fucking voice! Gravelly Lisp?! Oh please, the Batman sounded like a camp 60-year old smoker! Not cool, especially when paired with Heath Ledger’s brilliantly played Joker.
