Kent Nerburn: The Cab Ride I’ll Never Forget
“I squeezed her hand, then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.”
I R Reviewer
September 29th, 2008 — 06:28 pmToday, had a brief meeting with my course leader about changing my modules for the second semester. Turns out that not only did I perhaps pick one wrong option, but potentially both my choices may turn out to be ill-advised. Still, Craig was cool about it so I’m going to roll on it for now and see how things go.
David and I went to the first Music Team meeting for LSRfm today. On entering the room we (and about twenty others) were presented with stacks of promo CDs accumulated over the off-air summer holiday. Stacks of CDs which now need reviewing. By Friday. On the surface this may sound like every music-fans dream. Piles of as-of-yet unreleased material to review? Perhaps, it could be. Thing is, I must have picked the short straw, five or so times, because my handful of promos are all absolutely terrible. Now comes the question: I am in a similar position to many of these small/unsigned acts so, do I look for some nice confidence boosting things to say. Or, do I treat it like any other reviewer/listener would. With utter contempt and find some scathing things to say.
Am I even allowed to give bad reviews on Student Radio?
Blankness
September 28th, 2008 — 06:18 pmToday is a day of nothing substantial. In fact, I can’t recall a single thing that has happened, and not in the “that means something crazy occurred”.
